Daniel left last week after visiting for three weeks during his summer vacation from teaching and it was soo good to have him here. We cooked a ton, spent a weekend in New York City to see friends and family, fit in a few workouts (and a nature walk), binge watched Orange Is The New Black and relaxed together. Whenever we are together, I want to fit in as much as I can and I use his visits as an excuse to cook through my to-do list of recipes that I wouldn’t normally make just for myself. It’s always fun to cook for someone else and I love having my sous chef in the kitchen 😉
This also means that I indulge more than I usually would, but it’s all worth it. I tried to be pretty good during Daniel’s latest visit, but we ate out a lot and didn’t work out a ton. So, as usual, the week or so following Daniel’s visit has been a bit of a detox and I’m trying to ween myself off some of the bad habits I returned to while he was here (think: dessert every night).
In addition to the indulgent eating, I find myself craving something special to sip on when we’re meeting up with friends, which usually takes the form of a fruity cocktail. I’ve cut back on that since Daniel left, but because it’s so hot out I’m still in need of a refreshing drink. Enter the new IZZE Sparkling Water beverage.
Get this- this drink has only 10 calories per bottle, 1-2 g of natural cane sugar, and is certified organic! Triple threat. It comes in three flavors: Blackberry Pear, Mandarin Lime, and Raspberry Watermelon. Hallelujah! The perfect sipping option for parties or dinner at home.
I served mine nice and cold with cut up fruit/lime so I could be even fancier. I think next time I’ll freeze the fruit so I can use it as ice without diluting the drink. My fav flavor was definitely the Mandarin Lime (but I couldn’t find the Raspberry Watermelon so I’m sure I would love that too)!
I went home to my parents house the other day for a dinner party they were having and I brought the IZZE Sparkling Water so I could stay refreshed, fit in with everyone else who was drinking, and continue to get back on track (besides the copious amounts of bread I ate). I can see IZZE Sparkling Water becoming my new drink of choice when I want something a little more interesting than water, but don’t want anything more than that.
