My official taste-tester has arrived! Daniel got in on Sunday and I’m even more motivated now to make tons of blog-worthy recipes since I know he can help me eat them all.
Lately, my sweet tooth has been out of this world! I can barely go a day without having dessert and usually it’s more than one sweet treat per day. I’m definitely in need of a little body reset and would love to try a 30 day sugar detox, or something drastic like that, but right now it’s just not going to happen. I want to eat my way through Philadelphia with Daniel and share all my favorite recipes with him. So maybe another day.
In the meantime, I can pretend I’m “cleansing” or “detoxing” or whatever you want to call it with this amazingly creamy cashew milk. I finally put my new Vitamix to use with this drink. It tastes just like a milkshake but is made with only three main ingredients- cashews, vanilla extract and cinnamon. I also added half a packet of Sunwarrior Classic Protein Vanilla raw and vegan protein powder for an extra protein boost. I’ve tried a few plant-based protein powders before and sometimes they can be very gritty and chalky but I liked the way the Sunwarrior protein tasted in this drink. I was full and satisfied after my “detox drink” and now I can pseudo-cleanse whenever I want. Hooray for that!
- 1 cup raw cashews
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 packet (or 15 g) Vanilla Sunwarrior Protein Powder
- pinch of salt
- 2-4 cubes ice (optional)
- Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend on high until well-blended. If you don't have a high powered blender, you may need to strain the cashew pieces from the liquid through a sieve or cheesecloth.
I received free samples of Sunwarrior Protein Powder mentioned in this post. I was not additionally compensated for my time and all opinions are my own.
