This almond butter has a hint of coconut and coffee in addition to a slight sweet and salty flavor. I prefer to make it easier on myself by buying pre-roasted nuts, and I usually buy them salted as well, but you could always add some salt to the nut butter as you are processing it.
Coconut Java Almond Butter
Makes 1 jar.
2 cups roasted and lightly salted almonds (if your nuts are not pre-salted add 1/2 teaspoon salt with the rest of the ingredients)
1 tablespoon agave
1 tablespoon unsweetened coconut flakes
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
Place almonds in a food processor and process until smooth. This make take a few minutes depending on the strength of your food processor. Next, add agave, coconut flakes, and coffee granules while the machine is still processing. The nut butter will seem dry after you add these ingredients but keep processing for about 5-10 minutes and it will eventually become creamy again.
