I’m not exactly the biggest professional sports fan, although I do enjoy the occasional NBA or World Cup game. One thing I do love about tailgating season, though, is the food! Lots of good food options…but not many healthy ones to choose from. Until now!
This seven layer dip is pretty epic and I’m proud to say that it is a lightened up version of your favorite dip. The only downside is when you eat the entire container and a family size bag of chips in three days…by yourself. But I definitely didn’t do that! Nope.
In this seven layer dip, Sabra Chipotle Hummus takes the place of refried beans while still fulfilling your bean recommendation for the whole week (did you know that a weekly bean recommendation was a thing?!). This was my first time trying the Sabra chipotle hummus and I loved it. It has a slight kick to it that is tempered by the rest of the cool ingredients. I used 0% greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream (which I almost always do because it tastes the same to me). Then, I opted for store-bought guac so I didn’t have to wait for avocados to ripen. Finally, I topped it all off with salsa, shredded cheese, fresh tomatoes and chopped green olives.Thank goodness I’m not an olive hater anymore. I cheated a little bit by putting parsley on my version because that’s all I had but I would definitely recommend using cilantro instead for the true Tex-Mex flavor.
Then dig in with your favorite tortilla chips!
This is sure to get even the non-sports fans interested in watching the game.

Love a twist on seven layer dip. It’s a classic. Can’t wait to try this for football game watching. My boys are obsessed with football these days.
